As we speak the dredger Oranje is sailing in the main channel shipping lanes, to the north of the Cherbourg peninsula, en route to Rotterdam where she is due to arrive early in the morning of 30th April.
Favoured by our prolonged spell of beautiful weather, she has completed her work at Seaton by delivering the final load on the late evening of Thursday the 28th April.
I am already receiving emails from ‘Oranje Watchers’ asking “what should we do?”, now that the seaborne element of the infill of the Tesco Seaton site is complete.
To allow a gentle period of ‘cold turkey’ and as an alternative to Royal Wedding festivities I will leave the tracking system live on trinitymatters.co.uk.
The dredger Oranje was used by Westminster Dredging to deliver infill materials to the Seaton Regeneration site. The Oranje recovered material from the sea bed off the Isle of Wight and South Wales then mixed the recovered materials with sea water, and pumped ashore to the Seaton site.
This map is designed to provide the best possible information to local residents and visitors to track the progress of the Oranje at sea, and provided ‘up to the minute’ best estimates of when she would arrive at Seaton to discharge her next load.
Please note the ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) shown in the graphics are an hour behind BST, the published destinations are also sometimes a little slow to be updated.
If you want details of any of the other vessels shown on the map, a single click on the ship will display the name and details of the vessel, together with cargo, destination and speed.
