The Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) programme has announced that it has appointed BT as preferred bidder for the provision of Superfast Broadband across Devon and Somerset, to include the area of Trinity Ward in East Devon.
Over the next fortnight, due diligence will be undertaken on the tender. Once this has been completed successfully, the offer will be formally confirmed enabling the final contract details to be agreed.
Following this, the process moves to the final stages, including gaining State Aid clearance and agreeing terms of the grant with the organisation responsible for delivering the £52m of funding for the project, BDUK (Broadband Delivery UK). After these elements are concluded, the contract can be awarded. It is anticipated that a further announcement will be made before Christmas.
