The Government has just published its draft National Planning Policy Framework for consultation.
The draft sets out the guiding principles for planning and economic development which will fundamentally shape the future of East Devon. It has worked to condense over a thousand pages of Planning Policies into just 52, and define the relationship between Local Plans and Neighbourhood Plans.
Planning Minister Greg Clark in his forward states;
“The purpose of planning is to help achieve sustainable development”
“Sustainable means ensuring that better lives for ourselves don’t mean worse lives for future generations, Development means growth….”
“Development that is sustainable should go ahead, without delay – a presumption in favour of sustainable development that is the basis for every plan, and every decision“.
His draft includes policies for our natural and historic environment and design standards.
