Public Consultations open on Friday 21st September from 3.30pm to 8.00pm and Saturday 22nd September from 9.00am to 1pm, the displays and plans will be available to be viewed by members of the public at the school.
Announced at the meeting of Uplyme Parish Council last evening, this marks a further significant step forward in the drive to secure the future of primary education in Uplyme.
Neil Pullinger, Chair of the School Trustees told the Parish Council and members of the public “this is the third time of asking and we aim to ensure we can deliver a new school for the village community”.
He confirmed that the project now has the support of the Diocese and Devon County Council. The project team has completed extensive work with East Devon District Council (as the planning authority) and the Environment Agency in relation to flood risk and management.
The drive for a new school features prominently in the Village Plan and it is envisaged that, after public consultation, an Outline Planning Application will be submitted to East Devon District Council with a view to establishing consent in principle for the location of our new primary school in the area to the north of the Village Hall next to the new ‘Affordable’ Housing site off Lyme Road.
At this point the Trustees (who own the current site of Mrs Ethelstons School), will seek to purchase the site for the proposed new school.
