Polling Stations in the East Devon District Council Elections have now closed. The verification process has been completed overnight and the count of EDDC District Wards was completed on Friday.
I have been our East Devon District Council member, for Trinity Ward, since October 2009 and live in Uplyme with my wife Sue, and children. We farm the Lyme Alpacas herd near Ware Cross. Our younger children attend local schools.
I am the only Candidate standing for election who lives in Trinity Ward.
At East Devon DC I sit on the Development Management Committee (Planning), and represent Axmouth on the Seaton Regeneration Board.
In addition to taking a full part in the operation of East Devon District Council, I am already delivering on key local ‘Trinity’ issues…
Protect our AONB & Coastal Preservation Area.
The ‘Jewel in our Crown’ and foundation of our rural and tourist economy must be protected. I see no need for major housing development in Trinity.
Protect historic Axmouth from HGV Traffic.
I am fighting alongside Axmouth Parish Council & villagers, to protect historic Axmouth from the ravages of HGV traffic serving Tesco, and the regenerated Seaton. HGV’s within inches of the front doors of our residents & ancient buildings – this cannot be right.
Carol Rapley, Chair of Axmouth Parish Council
“As our Trinity Ward councillor, we the Parish Council, give Ian our unanimous support for his re-election.”
Safeguard the future of Primary Education in Uplyme.
Mrs Ethelston’s School has served our community well for almost 140 years. An outstanding school, with excellent staff & happy, stimulated children, but on a cramped site. I lead the ‘New School’ project team, of governors & members of the village community, to safeguard the future of Primary Education in Uplyme.
Andrea Rice, Headteacher at Mrs Ethelstons school
“Ian questions things most people are happy to ‘let go’. He is a driving force behind a replacement school for Uplyme, involving all members of the community working together. He leaves ‘no stone unturned’ and there is a real sense that his passion to make a difference will achieve results”
Trinity Broadband – Economy, Communication and Entertainment.
Co-founder & Chair of the Trinity Broadband Group, working to deliver better broadband for homes & business in Trinity, particularly the area around Combpyne-Rousdon to Raymonds Hill, with little or no broadband at all.
Tenders including the Trinity area went out on 31st March, we expect real results soon!
Rod Boyce, Co-Founder of the Trinity Broadband Group
“When I approached Councillor Ian Thomas about our poor broadband service, I had no idea of the drive, intelligence and enthusiasm he would bring to our campaign. To say he is an effective Chairman of Trinity Broadband is an understatement. The interests of his Ward really do come first. He does deserve all our support.”
A Home for All – throughout our lives.
All Trinity residents and families have a right to a safe place to live. Small developments of ‘affordable housing’ are needed to meet local needs, where identified and supported by our local communities.
The Best Informed Constituents
I am committed to ensuring that Trinity residents are the best informed in East Devon. Able to contribute to local government Consultation and fully Participate in shaping the future of our beautiful Trinity Ward.
I attend Uplyme, Combpyne-Rousdon and Axmouth Parish Council meetings and write the ‘Trinity Matters’ section for all Parish magazines.
www.trinitymatters.co.uk is a personal website. The site is funded personally and receives no financial support from any public or political body.
Trinitymatters.co.uk attracts 10,000 visits per month. A great way to stay up to date with local news, progress on our key challenges, and all Trinity Ward planning applications.
Should I be successfully re-elected to represent Trinity on EDDC on 5th May – Trinitymatters will be further developed to serve the communities of Uplyme, Combpyne-Rousdon and Axmouth, and will continue to play a core role in my drive to ensure we are the best informed residents, not only in East Devon, but beyond!
Roy Jones, Chair of Combpyne-Rousdon Parish Council
“Ian has quickly established himself as a hard working and empathetic district councillor, putting people above partisan politics. His www.trinitymatters.co.uk website is a model for modern local communications”
Whatever our views on European or National issues, this is a local election which affects our local communities. East Devon has one of the lowest Council Tax charges in the country, yet delivers highly rated services at the lowest possible cost, despite deep cuts in central government funding.
Please use your valuable Vote to support me in the forthcoming East Devon District Council election.
Thank you for your continued support.
Vote today to re-elect Ian Thomas.
